Load the AutoEQ profile for your headphones or build a curve from scratch. Every band has its own frequency, gain, Q, and filter type.

Synced lyrics
Time-synced lyrics from the LRC files on your server, highlighted line by line as the track plays.
Gapless playback
For the records that should never have a pause in the middle.
Direct or transcoded
Plays the original file when it can and asks the server to transcode when it has to.
Queue control
Play next, add to the queue, or play later. Huge playlists load without slowing the app down.
Artist grouping
Merge duplicate artists or fold genres together inside Headroom. Nothing changes on your server, and you can undo it.
Album-based colors
Now Playing picks up the colors of the album art, and so does the rest of the app.

I built the player
I wanted to use.

I wanted off Spotify and back into the music I actually own. I run more than one server, and none of the apps I tried handled all of them well, so I built one that does.

Right now I'm fixing bugs and adding features based on what testers send in. If something breaks, tell me your device, your server, and what happened. I read every report myself.

What happens after the beta?

I'll publish pricing and what goes in the free and paid tiers before launch. They may differ between iOS and Android. Beta access ends when the beta does. It doesn't turn into a paid plan, and it can't charge you.

Are there rewards for beta testers?

Testers who send useful bug reports may get Pro for free after launch. Installing the beta on its own doesn't qualify.

What about my library and privacy?

Your music stays on your server. Headroom talks to it directly, with no Headroom account in between. The Privacy Policy covers the optional integrations, diagnostics, and this website. The Terms of Use cover the beta.
